Cleansing is not recommended for:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women. This is because toxins are released during a cleanse and can pass into the bloodstream or breast milk, and the calories in the cleanse will not be sufficient to sustain both mother and child.
- People that are losing weight due to an illness or eating disorder
- Children under the age of 18
Please consult your health care practitioner before embarking on a cleanse if you have any of these specific conditions:
- Advanced heart, liver or kidney disease
- Diabetes
- MCAD deficiency
- Kidney dysfunction
- Tuberculosis
- Hyperglycemia
- Mentally or emotionally unstable or unwell
There are other more specific health conditions that are not suitable for cleansing so please speak to your health care practitioner if you have any conditions or are unsure at all.
